Carson airfield is an AMA registered field. It is located near the intersection of the 405 and 710 Freeways in the northern area of Long Beach (not Carson, CA), Southern California.
Carson airfield is a helicopter only airfield as there are no runways.
Weather is almost "beach like" as it is just a couple miles from the ocean front. Carson enjoys cool, breezy weather all year long and is subject to overcast, Santa Ana winds, and hot summer days.
The field has a perimeter fence surrounding 22 acres of sod/grass/dirt surface.
The gated entrance is on the south perimeter accessed by Carson St. and is locked by a combination padlock.
The pit area is the south side of the field on what is basically a grass curb.
Parking is on Carson St. right next to the pit area (see maps and pics below).
There are no chairs, power hookups, or bathrooms so be prepared to bring a generator, camping chair, and use "natural" bathrooms!
